Winchester SX3 for 949- good deal? good gun?

I paid 1400 taxes included for mine. I'm in a small town though. Its been great, probably put 400-500 shells through it.

My buddy and I bought new semi's last year. He got the SX3 and I got a remy 105cti.

Both awsome machines.

The remy has more bling, but the speed and functionality of both are equal. The SX3 is made by FN, so you know it can't be wrong!

I almost bought one, got the Browning Silver Hunter instead. We pulled both the Browning and the Winchester apart in the store, same gas system in both (I had heard on shotgunning.com that the Silver and SX3 were the same), just the Browning is "prettier" (already had a "dirty" gun, wanted something "nicer"). I love the Silver, dead reliable, extremely fast cycling, low recoil. That price is about $100 less than I paid for mine (the SX3 and Silver were the same cost), so I would say go for it!

How is the 105cit 2? working out? I love the carbon fiber receiver, but can't get over fubar from the first ones.

Mines the first one. (It's a later model where they worked out the glitches, and then renamed to the CTi II)

Works good. Just needs the usual care that semi's seem to require. A bit of spray lube before going out is key.

As far as esthetics goes, it's stunning. The checkering, the titanium/carbon firbre receiver and the walnut is really nice.

For shooting...it's almost recoiless. Even with 3" heavy mag loads....it's a dream to shoot.

In 2008, I bought my 28" 3.5" Waterfowl Sx3 for $1450 Taxes in. Most 3" walnut or black synthetic versions I have seen are around $1000 before taxes. So $950 before taxes for a brand new 3" gun is worth it.

There were used 3" Black versions on the EE going for about $800-900.

*Cabelas lists the 3.5" black Synth for $1240 or the Grey shadow for $1290. For $50 I'd go grey it looks wicked.

Still a few months till the season, but my CC is already melted....

That is a good price for a sx3 and like mentiond before it is probably a 3" composite which is all you need anyways. I am buying one in july sometime, they are $1049 here.

After having a Remington 1100 i don't think i will ever buy another semi auto from them.....it only takes a few times for the gun not to work in the field. Any it happend more then a few times....and yes the gun was just cleaned

That's a good price, but beware- the drop on both the Brownings and the SX3 are very slight, and depending on what you're used to firing, you may find yourself burying your cheek into the stock for proper sight alignment.

That being said, I own a Browning Silver Lightning.

:agree: Remember fit is very important with shotguns(winchesters do not fit me). Deals on rifles is one thing but if a shotgun doesn't fit you, don't bother with it, I've learned from experience and it makes a BIG difference.

On the synthetic models you can drop the comb by upto 1/8" and set it to cast out to the right or left at 1/8" too. if it does not fit you perfect on the spot ask them to change the shim.
