Just unwrapped my new sx3 and tried the trigger and I'm not very impressed. It's got a little play off the start and is extremely heavy. I was just wondering if anyone has noticed this and if there is something that can be done to get that trigger pull down a bit.

Thanks
Anthony

they do have a small bit of play, but i didn't find them to be heavy in the least bit. Which model of SX3 is it, the sporting version has sweet trigger, light trigger and the Black Shadow is a little sloppier and not as crisp in my experiences with the SX3 anyway.

It's the black shadow. I oiled up the trigger mech and just kind of ran it a bunch of times and it definitely helped but still not like my benelli was....

it wont ever be like your benelli, your comparing a 1K gun to a 1.6K gun, the only outstanding trigger on a semi auto that I have found sub 1000$ is on the Fabarm XLR, and thats still over if you dont buy it on sale.

The only weakness on Winchester shotguns IMO is the trigger group, O/U including, Winchester does not know how to make a nice shotgun trigger.
I dont own an SX3, just tried a handful of them, passed up a good deal on a 101, and still own an SXP.

The gun will last forever, but you will be replacing springs and the hammer every 10000 rounds or so, my SXP has about 8000 through it and the hammer has a nice indent in it.

There should be a couple allen screws on the trigger group, i've noticed that if you tighten them up it will eliminate a lot of the play in it. Or you could have a trigger job done on it if you have some extra coin in your pocket.

I shoot my shotgun like a shotgun, at things flying fast and sometimes far and in my opinion a clean crisp trigger is an important quality when wing shooting and trap shooting. It's also important for turkey shooting when you "shoot your shotgun like a rifle"
