hey guys, recently bent my shot gun barrel :HR: . i was wondering if anyone has experience in chopping a barrel and can offer any advice and where would be the best spot to pick up a new one ? looking for a SXP 28 " barrel in a 3" chamber.

If you are going to cut down the barrel you must keep it 18 or 18 1/2" in length (need to look up the current regs).

Also, unless you have gunsmith do it and rethread the muzzle for a choke then you would have just a cylinder bore (essentially) with no capability to choke at all.

The only source for replacement Winchester barrels is a Browning dealer - Browning handles all the import of Winchester guns/parts, so any dealer with an account at Browning Canada can order one for you.

Do be prepared for a wait. Browning Canada doesn't keep very much "in stock", so they will in turn order from the US.

Straighten it out!
Shotgun barrels bend very easy and also straighten out very easy.
Just don't use hard, sharp corners to pry it straight. Two rounded surfaces and pry it straight.

For the price of a barrel at brownnells I'd just chop it or try and bend it back. ......those shotguns go for 300$ or less in EE all the time.......I got one and they are wicked shotguns....sometimes on EE they have the 2 barrel combo kit that would be a bonus to find

This ^^

I have straightened many shotgun barrels, just use gentle rounded blocks or tooling, and make small adjustments. It's will work if your barrel isn't kinked or has too sharp of a bend, which when straightened will stretch the metal.
