Hi everyone,

I have a question, I am buying my first shotgun and I am reading the Remington 870s are less than desirable now because they are using cheap parts. Am I wrong?

I have been reading into the Winchester SXP Black Shadow vs Remington 870 Express and I'm wondering your thoughts on either of them for an entry level shotgun?

Thanks

I had both and much prefer the SXP. Very much an underrated shotgun.

I found the SXP lighter, smoother, and looked cooler. It also has a better recoil pad built into it.

The only reason I sold the SXP was because I wanted a wood stock shotgun. Now I have a Winchester 1200 which is basically an older version of the SXP

I had 2 870 Express, sold both.
Got a SXP Field (wood stock), loved it. It shot better than any other shotgun I have. It has very nice wood, for it's price. Didn't want to bring the wood stock to the duck blind, so I also got the WaterFowler. Had some issues with the camo peeling, sent it back on warranty. Eventually got a new one from Winchester, it's up for sale now as I got a semi for waterfowl.
If I did it again, I would go for the Black Shadow. The plastic stock takes away the fear of ruining the wood, and no camo to peel.
The Parkerized type finish of the Black Shadow, Field and Security tends to markup easily, but will add character.

Good reviews I bought a SXP muddy girl 12ga pump to put away for my daughter. Was a really good buy on a less than 1 day sale at Cabelas for $339
Looks like I made a good impulse buy. I think the muddy girl is the same gun as the black shadow 3" just more pink.
