I have a winchester sxp chambered for 2 3/4 and 3".
It cycles 2 3/4 shells fine but the 3" it won't. It started off good but the problem is getting worse.
Anyone have any ideas why? Thanks

strip the gun right down and give it a good cleaning, I haven't had that issue with mine although it has not proved to be a reliable long term gun. Try switching to a different brand for your 3" also, since some guns tend to be a bit picky on what they will and wont work with, I had an 870 express that would struggle with just about everything.

I have 2 SXPs, defender and blackshadow.
Havent had any issues with either.
Have you taken it right down and cleaned it thoroughly?

And we're certain we are not short shucking it?

If this means not pulling the fore grip all the way back before pushing it forward, I have done this a few times. I chalked it up to the inertia assisted pump when either the sxp or I finally loosened up while shooting.

Im interested in what could be wrong, Im about 500 rounds in and no other problems other then this.

They are a great shotgun for the price, I wrote fairly long review a while back on ShotgunWorld about mine.
Long story short is that mine didn't survive much past 11,000 shells, and know, a couple years have passed and still cant get parts for it. It lived a good life and I will never get rid of it, one day i will get my parts, I hope.

I suspect a burr on the shell stop. Extra compression of the mag spring due to 3" shells may be causing enough force against the stop to be the problem. Pull the trigger group and drag a cotton ball over the stops. Look for any snagged cotton and that may be the trouble spot. I am assuming the shells are having trouble getting onto the carrier. The OP description was not too precise.

The gun will not load the next round, it needes to be cycled agian to get the next round to chamber

With some snap caps loaded in the magazine cycle the action slowly .as the for arm is pulled back does the shell release from the magazine. As the for arm is moved forward does the lifter bring the shell up to be pushed into the chamber by the bolt .

Theres no round in the action, only the spent hull that gets chucked.
We have concluded the speed pump thing has something to do with it, as it did the same thing while making sure that short stroking wasn't the problem.
We even tried to slam down to the bottem to get the shell to cycle into the action, but no go!
Is really weird

These are really simple machines with tabs, ramps, springs, etc. As mentioned above, there is one tab not doing its job. Slamming stuff around will not fix it. Has kicking a car that won't start ever worked.

Understand how the mechanism works first, identify which ramp/tab is the issue, fix the problem.
