Winchester sxp defender slug accuracy

Purcased a Winchester SXP defender with a 18" barrel. Although I really like it (especially the $300 price tag) it shoots slugs about a foot off to the ten o'clock position at 25 yards.
Is this common for short barrel shotguns?
I will probably have to install tactical sights right?

Ya you are only shooting a slug with one roug bead sight. Not accurate, go get ghost rings or have fire sights soldered on. Or tap the receiver and install a rail and a red dot.
