Winchester SXP GETS WOOD!!!!!

You wont believe this, I bought a camp combo(gun in pic) with a 28 and 18 inch in black synthetic, then a wood field model and moved the stocks around , sold the field with the black stocks so now Im left with a 18 inch wood defender with a switchable 28 inch choked hunting barrel...........too bad they don't make one like that...........it would have been no problem if the mag tubes on my two guns were the same length, i actually bought the synthetic combo just for the short barrel but the tube was shorter on the field one, i ended up swithing the wood over!!!

BTW the gun is silky smooth to rack!!

Can't beat wood... did the same thing with my 590A1, gave it some vintage wood:

Wood rules! This was, I assume, about replacing black synthetic stocks. Don't forget to can refinish factory wood stocks with that awful plastic, bowling ball finish, to a satin oil finish. Not to go into all the details but strip, sand (to 400 grit), wet to raise grain, 0000 steel wool and apply 6 to 10 well rubbed coats of 50/50 boiled linseed and turpentine. Maintain with lemon oil. I've done two like this to date with really good results.
Cheers.

I stain to my desired colour then tung oil to finish. I left a couple with a semi-gloss, others with satin finish. The high gloss finish only looks good on an expensive over/under, not a pump. So far people have been impressed with my work and I'm a beginner - just learned from YouTube.

Nice job, like wood on my guns as well. Does your better half know you put your guns on her ironing board for photos? Just checking.
