Hey All,
I recently graduated, and was given some money with instructions to spend it on something FUN. So, of course, I am thinking new gun... new shotgun... something nicer than the two Norinco 780s I bought and painted for the hell of it...
So with this in mind, I have spent the past four days researching, and I am leaning heavily towards the Winchester SXP Camp/Field combo (18.5 and 28" with three chokes, ~$450),
Yes, I know it's made in turkey, yes the shell stops are riveted in, but honestly everything I have read from people who own them is great...
The other option on the table is a Mossberg 500 combo from Cabelas (18.5 and 28" with fixed choke, $289)
I love the tang safety... and the price...
As far as I'm concerned, an 870 is pretty much off the table, wingmasters are too pricey, and express is too rough around the edges. Not to mention (barely) staked in shell stops, riveted in ejector...
As far as the purpose of this gun, I plan on using it for clays (nothing too fancy: Me, gun, box of clays, back field...) and some Psuedo-tactical BS with the short barrel (lets be honest, short barrels are fun!)
So before I go abuse store staff to let me fondle all their shotguns, any suggestions/hints/horror stories?
Matt
