Winchester SXP pump shotgun

I purchased the 2019 shotshow waterfowl/turkey barrel combo a while back. I like the gun for turkeys. I don't use it much for waterfowl as I am the king of double pumping, but its a pretty flawless gun. Fits as comfortable as my SX3, meaning it shoulders nice and isn't clunky at all. Function is flawless as well. I have no complaints.

i've had mine for about 7 years now, got the Camp/Field Combo. At first i purely used it for Trap, after about 12,000 rounds the hammer was badly peened, and an action bar broke. It took 3 years before i could get parts for it, Now she is back in service, and comes out duck hunting, sporting clays and still the odd round of skeet. It Sits around 17,000 rounds at the moment, action is fine, barrel is fine, stock is fine.
It does Kick pretty good with some 3" duck loads though. Also, replace those trash factory chokes. I dont know why they even bother including them, they're junk. I use Signature series for clays and Muller for hunting, and they work well with my loads.

Own the trap version, have put 2000+ rounds through it. Goes boom every time. Breaks a lot of clays
Wood is not the nicest and paint on the metal is very flat but it is durable. Have finished several rounds in the rain so yes it has been wet. Crome lined barrel so no crossion worries. Rotary bolt has been super reliable runs all the different (cheap) shells steel or brass without a hiccup. Action is smooth and easy, runs with just a flick of your wrist as the bolt unlocks during recoil.
Gun patterns just a tad higher then I want as is so will have to do some custom fitting down the road. To be expected.
Good value for the $
Purchased mine used of the EE for sub $400.00 shipped. Am very happy with it.

Ive had the 3.5 inch shadow grass blade duck version for a number of years now. I haven't killed any ducks with it but I've ran a few cases of target loads, some slugs, buckshot and high brass game loads through it without any trouble. The action is much smoother than any of the Remington 870s I have handled and I have had no trouble with jams like my Remington friends do with cheap low base aluminum shells. It seems to just work, very happy with it. I have been wanting a defender model now for the backcountry because it seems you cant buy a spare 18.5 barrel like you can with other manufacturers. Overall I believe you would be very happy with one.

My 2 cents - The action is smooth like NSHUNTINFARM mentions above. There seems to be some pretty good deals on used ones. If i was buying new, I would lean towards an 870 or Mossberg 500/535. Both the 500 & 870 are tried and true designs with huge aftermarket support (the SXP not so much). Two guys at the local club had parts break on their SXP's and finding parts for them was difficult.

Thats ALOT of shooting ! WOW

Not for a trap or skeet shooter, no. That's about 2 years for me.

I didnot want to say that since every time I open my mouth I am a know it all :)
Most trap and skeet shooters on retirement do a min of two rounds a day 2 -3 times a week
Back when active many would do 15-20,000 a year know I did
I don't know much about these winchesters but think it is good to get 17,000 through one. I have one friend with one and he doesn't even clean it. Treats it like crap but it goes bang every time
take care
