Bought a used winchester sxp defender to shove heavy loads through, ended up enjoying this beater way more than I expected. Has anyone ever put something like ghost rings on this model or know if it's possible? Not much out there for aftermarket parts...

I'm going to follow this for interest. I think a rear sight could easily be attached either to a rail or to one of the threaded receiver holes for the rail. It's a sturdy matching front sight that I'm unsure of.

I've got the 'extreme Defender' version of the SXP, which comes with some not-bad sights, but I don't know if the rail and sights can be purchased separately from Winchester. I've got mine kitted out pretty much the way I like it - have a pistol grip as well, which when installed turns it into a pretty handy package :)

That's a nice shotgun. When I bought my Mossberg Persuader the other day, that was the other shotgun I was debating on. It wasn't the Extreme Defender just the original but I picked it up and the action felt really nice. I almost bought it and I probably wouldn't have regretted it either.

Mossbergs are nice, too, but I've always liked the 1300 Defenders. The newer SXP is pretty sweet, and is even better now that ATI is making stocks and pistol grips, and a few manufacturers are making mag-tube extensions :)

I have the exact same extreme defender and find the factory ghost ring sights to be fairly accurate. I can hit a milk jug at 50 yds with the dominion ball slugs, free hand.Great underrated shotty. I bought mine from a guy privately for $350 nib. Is that a mag extender on yours?

I have the sxp defender and was wondering about a pistol grip. Never shot a 12guage with one and have heard it's pretty hard on the wrist??
