Has anyone tried a XPR? Saw one at LGS yesterday, detachable mag( looks like a Tikka design). Caliber was 6.5 CM, adequate for deer, or moose. Thanks in advance for any info.
It's closer to the Browning AB3 then a Tikka, same bolt/receiver used on both. Since Winchester/Browning are owned by FN I guess they carried that over to both lines to save some money.
Barrels/triggers/mags are different between the 2, as are the way they attach to everything. Some of the features on one are better then the other, and vice versa.
Winchester trigger is a better design.
Browning AB3 mags are the better design.
AB3 has a traditional barrel/recoil lug like Remington, where the Winchester uses something closer to an Axis.
Side safety vs tang is another difference.
Both are good budget rifles, boils down to preference.
NorthPro had some nice cerracoated XPR's on sale a while back... almost bit lol.
Looks like they still have them in 308 & 7-08 for $647 and a $100 mail in rebate is on too. http://northprosports.com/index.php?route=product/category&path=28_228_387
