winchestor model 88 .308 lvr action

I recently purchased a .308 winchestor and am in need of a new stock for it. The old one is too far gone. Where could I purchase one and what is a good price? Sorry if I put this thread in the wrong spot.

Pre 64 or post 64 the stocks have different checkering and finish

Not sure of the age of it? There are no designs on it at all. Just want something plain that looks good.

I've seen someone here with a Boyd's or Richard's pepper laminate stock on there Model 88. Looked pretty good.

Great American Gunstocks in the U.S. makes aftermarket stocks for them. Check with Canadian suppliers regarding export.

If it has no checkering at all it might be a carbine. Does it have a 19 inch barrel and a barrel band around the forend?
The early ones had plain checkering and the later ones had hideous impressed basketweave checkering.

No carbine was ever made with checkering period !!,and were made from about 1967 - 72 .If it has checkering it's a pre 64 model and if it's got the oak leave pattern it's post 64.Both pre and post 64 stocks will work no probs unless you have the real old style with the clover leaf tang,then you'll need the tang as well.
