Hi,

I heard today that, apparently, RCMP and some other police agencies were starting to notice a problem with the crooks using WinClean-like ammo. Apparently, the gun shot residue test checks for lead residue! When shooting lead-free ammo, obviously that doesn't produce the correct results... Hmm...

Don't know if this is actually true or not, but if the GSR test is lead based, this would make sense...

Don't they test for gun powder residue, not lead residue IE GSR. Winclean is still a lead round, it's just complety incased in a metal jacket so you don't get lead vapourizing from the rear of the bullet. It still can seperate from the jacket on impact.

The non-tox round has no lead

Which would be lead styphanate???

Non-tox primers don't use lead styphnate; most manufacturers use a new constituent called "diazo-dinitro-phenol", or DDNP. It took a while to get the proper mix (one of the reasons early non-tox primers were a different size and had a larger flash hole), but they were able to work the bugs out.
