I got a 30 year old model 70 featherweight from family, the .270 call one. The gun was used for maybe 100 shots but the barrel is kinda rough since its been stored for ever. I was hoping to replace it with stainless steel barrel and bolt if possible but I cant find it, or would there be another service a gunsmith could do for cheaper?

By the time you get a boltless/rusty rifle back into shape with a new stainless barrel and replacement bolt, you may just as well buy a new rifle.

$400 for a barrel
$200 for a bolt
$200+ to refinish the receiver and blue it again.
$200 to chamber and fit the barrel and lap the bolt lugs for contact. Then, there is the cost of scope and mounts.

$1000 by the time it is all together. You can get a very nice new, off the shelf rifle for a similar amount and the new CNC machined products are very close to custom standards and in some cases even better.

You can buy a used rifle of the same time period for around $500+ dollars, sometimes with a cheap scope/mounts included.

Clean it and shoot it. If it shoots well, leave it be. - dan

Roger that. I have a 30 year old M70 featherweight and its been dropping deer and moose for the same amount of years. Its not what I consider to be a precision rifle but its reliable and I've taken game past 400 yards.

As said, the transformation you want is probably a higher cost than just buying the rifle you want.

Define 'kind of rough'. That mean rusty or just dirty?
Are you saying the bolt is MIA? It doesn't need a SS bolt.
Contact Winchester. Add the W's.

Sunray. He said its 30+ years old.
The institution we know as Winchester won't sell him a scew for a scope mount on that gun as win. was owned by USRA back then and now they are Browning owned and won't sell or service non Browning guns.
Its a push feed M70 isn't it Canadian Bacon Pancakes. That's why you want a CRF bolt right?...but its not that simple as the recievers are different in the bolt races the whole gun is different. The only thing the same is the name M70.

Sunray just hits and runs, even if it is a foul ball... Very prolific but lacking in substance.

Clean the rifle and shoot it... then make decisions...
