Now that my deer hunting is over the the year I decided to finish up a project I started in the spring. This spring was my first Turkey hunt and I was fortunate to bag a nice Jake.

I decided to make up 2 of the "Wing Bone" turkey calls. Details on the construction is here:

As I am not very "crafty" these took quite a while to make.I did a simple etching on the bone which I think turned out ok. One I will keep and use this spring.. the second will go to my friend as a gift for encouraging me to get back into hunting.

Anyone else make these ? Any success using them ? Any pics?

Not really hard..just takes time. The toughest part was cleaning off the wing bones and then cutting to fit. Oh yeah, make sure ALL the marrow is out before assembling!

Those look pretty nice! The wingbone is the oldest type of turkey call and are found as artifacts way predateing us pilgrims. I've made a couple too and I find you can get the purest of yelps from one with some practice. I'm thinking the one on the right gives the nices loud yelps ;). Keep up the good work, there's little more satisfying than calling in a bird with your own call.
