WinMSS to require payment?

...in addition...

Many of our members don't understand how ICS works. I have piles of email from members wanting to know why they don't have an ICS Classification...I look ionto it only to find out most of them never registered and don't have an ICS alias...

I like the concept...but in my excperience...it's been painfull

I ran (scored) a couple of ICS matches for WSSC and to say the whole system is a nightmare is a understatement. The system is NOT intuitive I spent a lot of time exchanging e-mails with IPSC trying to get it work. The whole alias thing has to be the stupidest thing every thought of. Do you know how many times I had to "adjust" people because they didn't have their alias spelled correctly or it was not what they thought it was. It took almost 2 weeks to get it all sorted out. Oh and it won't do anything unless your ready with your credit card...so forget about making minor corrections and resending the data. (I know they didn't double charge us but the whole interface was as user unfriendly as it could get...I mean it was even worse than dealing with Bell Canada!!)

The whole experience pretty well put me off ICS for probably the rest of my life..... I not saying USPSA's Classification system is perfect but they certainly know how to make it easy to use and pretty well painless (unless you count the classifiers you just tanked)

you know i have never understood why so many people have trouble with ICS. it is real simple, it is a system that is suppose to allow a comparison of shooting skills, just like the USPSA qualifiers. the best thing about it is that we no longer have to spend hours at nationals trying to figure out if an A class from Ontario is the same as an A class from BC or an A class from Alberta. don't believe me just ask Sean about the fun of trying to do that at a Nationals. i am willing to bet he still has nightmares about it. if we did not have ICS then we would have to come up with a Canadian standard. Who is ready to volunteer to do that?

I hear people always whining about how they are dumb or a pain to set up but you know they have to be kept simple so that they are setup the same each and every time and yes the dimensions are precise (through i think the way they give them some days could do with an improvement but i haven't volunteered to do this) so that they can be set up the same.

As for paying for for each version of ICS yes i do think the Americans have it right just make it part of our affiliation fees even through i can hear the whining now "why do i have to pay an extra $$ for IPSC fees what do i get for my money" going on.
