Try skeet first. You should do well with that gun. But that 18" barrel (with an IC choke?) is poorly suited for trap.

Regardless, go out and shoot it!!! All you have to do is show up, it's open to the public. They've a website also, www.winnipegtrapandskeet.com to show you hours, location, events, etc. There are lots of decent guys there, just tell them you're new and need some instruction. I've yet to run into a snob there.

thanks guys.... i think i will go check it out this weekend...and just checked my gun....i dont think there is a choke there......it just a barral...

Is ammo avalable at the Winnipeg Trap Club? If so what brand(s)/

they do but in limited supply,i either use the challenger handicap target loads, or grab a value pack of winchester target loads at CT on the way out of town

I went out to the club for the first time today, and did a couple rounds of trap with my 870...fun fun stuff. It's actually a fair bit easier than I would have imagined.

As for ammo...I used federal 7 1/2 target loads.

good stuff! keep comin out. you'll meet alot of good people and you'll start hearing about some sporting clay events, they are alot harder and more fun. but watch out, it gets pretty exspensive when you really get into it.
