How did the deer do this past winter in north cebtral sask, around meath park and christofer lake areas? Did they get hit hard by all the snow and cold? I'm hunting there this year just curious if alot survived or not?
Thanks

Lol!

I was fishing up there this spring. No shortage. If there was such thing as a spring deer hunt, I could have used a spear! There be dumb deer up that way!

Get a bear tag too if you can. We never actually saw any, but there was sign everywhere.

We did have some serious winterkill in the Porcupine Procincial forest, SE of the area you ask about. My guess is that the deer population is about half of what it was last year. Still good huntable populations though.

Anyone know what the whitetail situation is like south of Saskatoon like around the Rosetown or Outlook areas?

I have a week long trip planned out there for the end of Nov but might be worth staying home and hunting in AB instead.

Sask deer?

As a kid growing up, a long time ago, north west of Nipawin (actually n/w of Love, but who has heard of Love?) I harrased the whitetail deer so bad that I'm surprised they didn't leave the country! One buck I think did try to pull out. Looked out the window in the morning--it was snowing. Grabbed the rifle, took off. Picked up a deer track, harrased him all morning, later in the day he started to go in a more or less straight line. Followed the same deer all day. Just before dark, got a shot--nailed him. Seven hours and over three miles from where we started. Very unusual for a whitetail to travel so far when hunted.
