Hi all!

This will be my first winter as a gun owner and I was wondering if there is any additional upkeep or steps I should follow for gun maintenance during the winter time. I do intend to do some outdoor shooting during the winter months as well as some indoors shooting. It would be upkeep on all 3 platforms pistol, rifle, shotgun. Any insight would he appreciated!!

Thanks
Mike

Depending on the model of firearm, you should strip it down and give it a good cleaning and wipe down with an oil or silicone cloth. I used to own a Remington pump so would disassemble it completely, even the barrel. You’d be surprised at all of the junk that gets into the nooks and crannies.

I personally lubricate sliding or rotating parts with spray graphite lubricant. It comes in a spray can, but the propellant evaporates immediately and leaves the graphite on the part. As far as outer surfaces such as barrel and action, G96. Wood stock, I rub down with Howard's Feed & Wax.
