"Winterizing" hunting rifles..... how do you do it?

do you guys degrease the the bolt, if how?

On my BRNO's there is a takedown tab on the back of the bolt, press that down and then unscrew the front of the bolt body.

I keep all my rifles lubed year-round with a light coat of CLP.

Other cold weather tips:

Finger cots to cover the barrel. If you want to use tape, use Tuck or gorilla tape - it ain't gonna come off.

If you're out hunting - don't bring your rifle inside your tent/cabin/domicile - let it hang from a tree with the lens covers open. This stops the optics from fogging. (If you're using glass...)

good question...

I would hazard a guess that most modern day rifles would be alot more reliable then those 40 years ago just due to the natural progression of technology..

but I guess its up to end user, really.

I disassemble the bolt and thoroughly clean and degrease the firing pin spring and striker then apply powdered graphite as a lube.

Anyone here ever tried the synthetic gun oil ? it is supposed to be rated for like -50 C or lower . I just make sure my rifle is dry/greasless . Lee enfeilds have a dust cover for desert but works in winter too. This keeps out snow from action. Also they have a barrel cover.
