Wish I Could Buy This Shotgun

I'm sure they if they made a semi auto only variant and made the barrel .5-.6 inches longer, it would be perfectly fine.

I doubt it because norinco did this with the AK and its still a prohib. My guess is it would be a prohib because of design. You would have to build a gun from the ground up.

Also barrel length would not be an issue with this considering you can get 870`s with 6.5 barrel.

My two cents on the issue.

If the AA12 is a named prohib, then you are correct. If it isn't, then a semi-only version could be made legal. The Norc AK is prohibited as a variant of the AK, which is a named prohib.

Barrel length only matters if you care about it being non-restricted. As a semi-auto centerfire, any barrel shorter than 18.5" will make it a restricted firearm.

AA-12 is a prohib already. Also on barrel length that is not true, the dominion arms 8.5 inch and the dlask 8.5 inch 870's are both non restricted as long as it has a full stock. Meaning a total length of over about 26 inches. Shotguns are classified differently from centerfire rifles in this way.

No, you would be wrong. ALL centerfires are classified the same. The difference is you are talking about manual action shotguns and I am talking about a semi-auto shotgun.

According to the Criminal Code, a restricted firearm is:
  • A handgun that is not a prohibited firearm;
  • A semi-automatic, centre-fire firearm with a barrel length less than 470 mm that is not a prohibited firearm;
  • A firearm that can fire after being reduced, by folding, telescoping or otherwise, to an overall length of less than 660 mm; and
  • Any firearm prescribed under the Criminal Code regulations to be restricted (including some long guns).

ANY centerfire semi (rifle or shotgun doesn't matter) with a barrel length of less than 470mm is restricted. Manual action centerfires have no barrel length restrictions. The 26" OAL limit really only applies to firearms altered (ie. - shortened) to that length, some centerfire firearms are shorter and still non-restricted.
