I have an issue with the "shot placement" argument being used as justification for using smaller calibers on deer size game. For example the .223 is perfectly capable of killing deer but shot placement is critical. its like saying I can use the .223 because I'm a good shot and never miss, but its not for everybody so if you aren't confident in your abilities you might not want to use the .223 like me. The ego in that argument just galls me and I hear it constantly. What you are really saying is the .223 (pick any 22cf) is not really enough gun unless you are very very careful.
If you like the 22cf for deer and you think its enough gun then have at it, but don't try and justify it because you are a shot placement expert.
