I have been getting ready for spring by cleaning up my .22 LR's. I usually find myself going back to my Savage MK2, or the tried and true 10/22 every spring. This year, I finally to get the kiddo's set up with their savage "little rascals". And in the mean while, I've been eyeing up a Derya TM-22 with a Bushnell 1x6 LPVO, just have to get past my wife first. She doesn't seem to think that I "need" another .22, but I'm sure she will come around. I'm interested to see if there are any other "go-to" .22's that you fella's are using to clean up those pesky rodents.

10-22 is always around.
Savage 17 HMR gets some use too.

Sold my Henry golden boy a while back to replace with a Marlin 39 but haven't found the right one yet. Prices seem to keep going up too...

My .22 gopher gun will be the same one I've used since 1964, an Anchutz SS target rifle. My long range gopher getter is a Savage Axis .223. Medium range will be a Marlin 1895 Cowboy in 45-70.

Savages in 17 hmr out to 125. A Savage 17 wsm out to 200. Hard to find any longer distance spots that justify it, but sometimes crack out the Tikka T3 .223. I don’t really use my .22 anymore, the ricochets always make me feel uneasy.

Mine will be three or four 455’s, bone stock, with Leupold scopes, and a couple of 457’s, also bone stock, Leupold’s. I also use a shotgun once in a while. This year I will try to smoke a gopher or two with my o.d LE Ishapore original “.410”, which isn’t actually a true .410 in the sense that it doesn’t accept normal ,410 ammo.

No gophers here in Southern Ontario, but long shots for ground hogs; so for me, 6.5 x 55 loaded with JHP 85 gr. Sierras when I can get them. 90 gr JHPs or 120 gr HPBT Match Kings when I can't.

I take out a combination of one of each of my 3 223s, 3 22 250s and 3 204s. Depends on which rifle I want to use as a long range thumper that day and how windy it is. I usually take my Sako A1 222 with both full and reduced loads for the close range shots. I will take out my Ruger 77/17 HMR occasionally but with the cost of rimfire ammo these days I prefer to use the reduced loads in a center fire.
I have all kinds of rounds loaded and waiting for this spring but spring doesn't seem to be in any rush to get here this year.
