I'm sure it's been said here before, but this thing is a piece of junk. Magazines sit too low. Feed angle is all wrong. Even the steel parts are as soft as aluminum. Charging handle broke off first range trip. Firing pin retainer broke on the second range trip.

You shouldn't have to charge your rifle and wonder if the round is actually going to make it all the way into battery.

Save yourself the time, money and dicking around. You can get an SKS and 3000 rounds of surplus ammo for the price of one of these.

Cool concept but a piece of junk.

Lol, you don't say? You didn't read all the threads on these junk guns? And I dont think the msr is any better, honestly. I wish you had read all the negatives on these guns. But I'm sure someone else will buy it for more than you paid.

Sigh this sort of thread pops up every couple months and it normally turns out that:

- The OP hasn't called Kodiak and gone through the customer service process
- The OP is making vague comments about quality without knowing what they're talking about
- The OP has in fact got a lemon but has decided that all 11,000+ WK180Cs made are now "junk" because they got a lemon
- The OP expects a $1200 designed & made in Canada rifle with great warranty support to perform the exact same way as a $3500 made by an enormous international arms manufacturer

OP, this happens. The cocking handle is a known weakness, Kodiak will send you one or two to replace it. It can still be used without the cocking handle. It's not ideal but it is what it is. The firing pin retaining pin breaking is a little less known of an issue but again perfectly fixable.

The SKS as loveable as it is in a 6MOA 300m mostly iron sights only old rifle. You just are not getting the same value for money when the WK180C is a 2MOA box magazine fed rifle with far more versatile furniture.

I get it, you're annoyed, so was I when my WK180C had a failure, but throwing a whinge on the internet and making wild statements isn't going to fix it. Call Kodiak, be polite to Owen and he'll put a lot of effort in to helping you.

Kodiak has provided assistance to people who have cut down the rifles, submerged them, welded them and more.

This is coming from someone with 8000 rounds through their WK180C and numerous parts breakages.

If you are talking about the WS MCR I can confirm it is better. I have about 500 rounds through mine of various brands and weights and in 3 different magazines, not a single hicup. The whole gun feels tight and well put together too with good accuracy. Not even a single failure of any kind. Part of a FB page with 2,000 other mcr owners and nothing but glowing reviews and feedback. In regards to the WK180c I agree though, they seem to have some issues still judging from the feedback I have gotten from others. And I hate that they are still using aluminum where they should not be. But they are certainly not junk especially for their price. and I would bet for each of those negative reviews about them you can probably find a positive one.

Can you comment on the sharp edges on the receiver?

fanboy alert !

My WK-180 runs great.

And there were absolutely zero sharp edges anywhere.
Machining and finishing were very nice all around.

Aftermarket charging handle, bolt release, and front takedown pin are all good upgrades.

I'm asking about WS-MCR. I've read many reviews about sharp edges.

Is this an April Fools Day thread?

I would think that if anyone through that the AR180 pattern was good in the first place than it would have been a far more popular rifle. it was designed to be a cheaply inexpensive rifle in its outset. Making a “modernized” version is as reasonable as a “modernized” Lada. Same pig different lipstick.

However we are in Canada. So:

1. It’s MADE here - it’s creates jobs here (not in China) just buy one
2. It’s Non restricted as determined by the national police
3. It’s a common calibre and Mags are easily available
4. It’s a better tinkering playform than an SKS due to the popularity of kit

It also throws logic at the illogical Liberal prohibition of similar semi auto centre fire rifles that essentially do the exact same thing.

It’s not a waste of money. Not at all.
I hope that “Made in Canada” on commercial firearms sticks around.

I like them both. They are made by cdn’s for cdn’s. Support your economy and one day your support will turn out great platforms. You had a taste of this with the ms and the slr, This is a long term game. If your rifle is not working “right” figure out why.... it’s a rifle not a transmission ffs.
