WK180 barrels VS AR15 barrels

Conflicting info, seeking clarification as I have no experience with WK180 platform.

I see one retailer listing WK180 barrels as not compatible with AR15 platform.
I've seen another retailer list an AR15 barrel with carbine length gas system as compatible with WK180, whereas the rifle length gas system as only compatible with AR15.
I've seen an EE ad for a WK180 barrel with claim that it'll work with any AR15 type rifle.

Can someone confirm wether or not a WK180 barrel can work on an AR15 and vice versa, are there some that work and other that don't, etc.

Thanks.

I’ve changed both the WK180 and MCR with AR15 barrels without any problem. You just need to use Carbine length for the gas block system to work.

Forgot to mention the barrel needs to be for .750 gas block. The .625 is too small but that’s about it.

Wk barrels will fit AR’s, might just need to change the gas rod and or block depending what size gas block came on the AR. WK’s are .750 but some AR’s come with micro blocks .625

WK barrels use an AR15 extension. The barrels themselves will work. Where you drill the gasport in the barrel and how large you drill the hole is where comparability with your specific build lies.

Thanks for the answers. Interesting.
Makes me wonder why TNA would say that their WK180 barrels aren't compatible with AR15s. Odd.

Most 180 platforms take AR-15 barrels with carbine length gas systems. The only issue is most AR-15 specific barrels that are long enough to be non-restricted use a mid or rifle length gas system. The only exception that I'm aware of is the JARD-180 which is DI instead of gas piston.

I have considered trying a pistol length 300 BLK barrel and just cutting down the WK piston to match the gas system length. Anyone ever hear of that being done?

The 180's barrel will likely have a gas port hole so oversized to cause function issues with an AR. I have installed AR barrels on WK's and had to enlarge the gas hole for proper operation.

Yes. Runs like ####. Although the new refined system from the 181 you may have better luck.

.300BLK really only has merits when running it with a can. I don't understand people's love for this round here.

So there's no other non restricted length .223/556 barrel that will work in the wk180? I'd like to have a heavier profile, better quality barrel.

Your question doesn't make sense. The WK comes with a minimum length barrel to keep it non-restricted and it apparently uses a carbine length gas system. Going longer with a short gas system makes no sense and would be counter productive. Yo9u could use a heavier barrel or a higher quality barrel but longer wouldn't be the best idea.

Where did I say I wanted a longer barrel?

Third Echelon has a 18.6" barrel with a mid-length gas port to match the mid-length piston they sell.

Hash tag me too, had to open one AR barrel gas port from 5/64 to 3/32. Thats the size you need or most likely your WK180 won’t cycle properly as in fail to load the next round. j parent is spot on, if we ever get to use our AR’s again and want to put it back on, it’s probably going to be over gassed and may need a adjustable gas block or heavy buffer/spring.
