Hello,

I was playing around with inserting various magazines I had laying about.
All of them inserted ok with a little wiggle room to spare.

Dropped free and clear with no prodding except for one that had its rivet projecting a little too far.
A couple of passes with a file fixed that issue.

When trying the Magpul magazines I noticed that the older M2 fit like all of the other magazines I tried.
However, when I inserted the M3 Magpul mags, it felt as if the magazine catch was just clearing the matching indentation in the mag.

The fit was snug with very little movement (as in none) when fully inserted (empty).
Ejected fine but I noticed that all 3 of the magazines I tried (M3) exhibited the same traits.

Thinking back I recall that one of the differences between M2 & M3 magazines was the addition of an over-insertion tab on the magazine.
Sure enough, when I placed the rifle with the inserted magazine in front of a strong light I could see the over-insertion tab was making contact with the curved portion of the trigger guard.
Hence the cause of my tight magazine.

Given that I also recalled Mr. Wolverine stating that it might be a future addition (magazine over-insertion) shelf I am wondering if this is an artifact of my magazine.
I only have 20 round Magpul M3 magazines to experiment with.

Does the same thing happen with other owners 30 round Magpul M3 magazines or is it specific to my Magpul 20 round magazines?

What are other people discovering with their Magpul M2 &M3 magazines?

M3 30 rounders require a bit of mustard to insert because of the spine tab, it touches the trigger guard. They appear to feed and drop free
