So ive been struggling with a rifle im trying to put together what i got going on is a ws mcr upper and lower with a wk180 bolt carrier and a tna 300blk barrel. From what ive been able to find online the bolt carriers are supposed to be compatible between the two platforms but i cant get mine to cycle at all. Ive stepped up the gas port a few sizes thinking a bit more gas would solve the issue but it did not. What seems to be happening is the carrier is getting bound up in the upper but not quite sure how to remedy this. Just wondering if anybody else has tried doing something like this and encountered a similar issue?

i don't know personally, but a quick search of wk180 parts compatibility brings you to an article by true north arms (which has also been posted to this forum) stating that modifications are required to put a wk180 bolt carrier into a ws mcr. no idea what these modifications are - try asking tna.

After much experimentation down this road, I bought a spare gas plug , and cut the port off. Basically allowing full unrestricted gas flow. Got it to cycle 12 g of cfe black. Hope this helps

starting to repeat yourself? apparently the parts can be made to work together, so let's figure out how to make them work hey? not everyone can or wants to just throw money at things.

I repeat myself because apparently the message is not getting through.

There is a proper way to do a job and then there is Bubba'ing the job.

Buy once, cry once also applies.

You can use the correct parts, designed to work together or you can screw around and Bubba the thing and it will never really work properly ... because it was not designed to. Then after spending time and money screwing it up, you will either lose interest and all that invested will go to waste or you will end up buying the correct parts and have spent twice as much learning the age old lesson of, "The correct tool for the job".

PS the best part about watching someone doing something wrong is that it doesn't hurt me one bit. ;)

Didnt realize there were replies on this add thought i would get notifications. I was trying to run factory loaded ammunition and just couldnt get the rifle to cycle. I gave up and out the 300aac barrel on one of my raven uppers and ended up throwing a 5.56 barrel on this build and it seems to work pretty well cycles reliably and is as accurate as my other mcr. There’s definitely a bit of play in the bcg when the upper is removed but its pretty tight when assembled.
