Over the course of 1500 rounds or so the piston on my Wk180c has broke and more recently the charging handle which is the threaded variety. Supposedly the fix for the piston is to tighten the gas block, which is not much of a fix as you can only go so tight on those set screws without stripping something. But I haven’t seen a fix for the broken bolt handles out there... so what is the main issue? If the problem is poor material strength then there is not much we can do about it. But what about reducing the mass of that part to reduce the stress on the shaft that threads into the bolt? Has anyone tried to drill more holes into the handle in an effort to lighten it up?

Starting to think I can’t trust my life to this thing when the boogaloo comes haha. Just kidding, that’s what ARs are for.

I love my Wk180C but I can no longer look at it the same way as I look at my AR15.

In sub 2000 rounds the charging handle has broken twice (with part of it remaining stuck in the bolt carrier group both times and so necessitating the sending of the BCG to Kodiak for replacement) and the piston+piston spring has broken once (Requiring the entire rifle to be sent to Kodiak for fixing).

Kodiak is true to its word with the warranty but I cannot trust this rifle to perform.

I really hope the WS-MCR will perform better.

I just want a reliable accurate NR black rifle.

My charging handle just sheared off tonight, right in the middle near the last thread. Only put about 500 rounds through the rifle so far. Reached out to Kodiak so we’ll see what they will do. Their customer service has been good so far.

UPDATE: Kodiak promptly sent me out a new one! Back in action.
