Kodiak Defence have quietly moved to a much better Gen 3 cocking handle which is included with all new production rifles.
Gen 1 - The magnetic handle, this worked well but upset some people by causing some wear on the inside of the receiver (without functional impact)
Gen 2 - The screw in handle, reduced the wear inside the receiver to a mere removal of the protective coating in some areas but nothing more. Unfortunately it had a habit of snapping
Gen 3 - The screw in handle with shoulder, this handle has a shoulder that appears to increase the strength of the handle at exactly where the Gen 2s often broke. It also appears to strengthen the whole length by reducing the amount of flex that can occur. Top work!
Here is a picture of the Gen 3 cocking handle
Having put 2500 rounds through my WK with this handle I can confirm that it is very sturdy and had no failures. I thought the additional surface area of the handle might cause some issues but it didn't. I suspect that for those who have used a magnetic handle in their rifles that this may not be true due to there being a larger rougher surface for the handle to be in contact with.
Either way great work Kodiak!
