My friend wants to buy a 22 magnum. I have a 22 btvs in lr and love it. Is there any brands models he should look at and stay away from?
He wants to shoot some coyotes that are on his acreage.
I have never taken down a coyote so help would be wonderful.

I told him, he might want to upgrade to .223 for 200+ yards but it's just a guess.

I've shot coyotes with a 22 magnum but under 100 yards and they can go quite a ways yet with a good shot, expect tracking. 223 is definitely the better caliber.

I have the BTVSS stock on my .22WMR and think it's the best stock design going. I can shoot quarter size groups at 100 with mine using CCI 40 grain JHP. I would not use this gun however for coyotes at ranges beyond 60 yards or so, and even then only head shots.
