Wolf advice

I've had great success using mouth blown coyote calls on wolves.
I try to call in a bear every year with no success. The wolves show up rather quickly though

I've brought wolves in use "snowshoe hare in distress," "calf in distress," and "coyote pup in distress" calls... I have also had them come in to cow calling when bowhunting moose during the rut... calling wolves requires considerable patience, you are likely to have many blank days before ever getting your eyes on one, let alone squeezing the trigger. However, calling is its own reward and the prize is often the unexpected visitors... I have called in weasels, mink, skunks, racoons, fox, coyotes, hawks & owls, marten, fisher, lynx, bobcat, wolves and black bears... I have spent countless hours over the past four decades in the bush calling while hunting and trapping... not to mention the animals that I have worked after spotting and not being able to close the distance. I have gotten two or three dozen black bears into shooting position for clients over the years, these were animals that would not have been taken without calling. You won't find me in the woods without a call in a pocket or on a lanyard.

Wolves are very smart animals....... I have shot them with beagles on their heals during deer drives, on baited stands and on wolf specific drives from bait sights on snowshoes........

I have only shot two wolves over calls...... usually I use my foxpro for coyote with hand calls mixed in and it will draw in all of the animals Hoytcanon mentioned above....... but in my experience, never a wolf..... I can only assume (from my hours and hours of using it), that wolves are way too smart for a "repetitive loop"..... even with hand calls mixed in...... so, if you are going to call for them, I strongly suggest hand calls......

The two I shot while calling were hand call only hunts...... both using carver calls.....
