I just placed my 2nd order with wolf.
1k of .45acp and 1k of 9mm
Great service,Great ammo Great PRICES:D
I always look around for the best price on 1k ammo I always end up buying from Wolf's.:bangHead:

$202 + 26.26 taxes = 228.26 for 9mm
$271+$35.23 taxes = $306.23 for .45acp
$40ish for shipping to toronto = $570
$16.32/box .45acp all in
$12.41/box 9mm all in
I always play with the idea of reloading but I can't get a grip on the actual costs.
I figure $120 FMJ bullets $40.ish primers +taxes and ship close to $200 I can't see the value in reloading
Am I wrong???

Yes you are. If you consider your actualized costs for just the .45's.

$130 for the bullets, $40ish (as you say) for the primers for a total cost (all in) for approx. $200.

Cost of the .45 ammo from Wolf is $296 + taxes and shipping. Figure on approx. $340 for the ammo. If you reloaded the 45's you would save $140.

Enough to buy more ammo and primers for the same cost.

Do you understand that one now?

And how much time do you loose or spent doing your reload (1 thousand rounds) ?
How much money did you spent to buy all that nice equipment ?

For some people, it is better to loose 100$ a year or so instead of going out and buy all that equipment, which will cost you at least 1k for a start, just a start !!!
And then you have to spend time, time and time doing your ammo.
Here, you have it right at your door, every thing is done and ready to go, no time waisted. The time I will save, will be use for shooting instead.

Ok, you guys are forgetting a lot of stuff.
bullets $140
bras $???
powder $ 40
primer $ 40
Total $220+++
these are the consumables you are looking at when buying ammo.

bras $???

How many bras do you wear through when reloading? And what do you use them for? Store your bullets in the left cup, primers in the right?

You know, most guys just buy a toolbelt in that kind of situation. To each their own, I guess.

It does not cost $1000 just to start reloading. Regardless of how much you spend on equipment, the amount of money you save reloading instead of buying factory ammo pays off all your equipment in a year or even less. Why wait for 1000 rounds to be shipped when you can churn out those 1000 rounds in 2 hours from the comfort of your own home? If you cast your own .45 bullets the cost of reloading is similar to bulk .22LR ammo. You can reload 1000 .45 Auto rounds for around $50. You save $250 or more just on those 1000 rounds. Four batches and you've paid off the $1000 equipment.

Wolf; good service, good guy, good prices, good ammo.
In no way is it worth it for me, or those like me without alot of free time or other reasons to get into reloading to do so just for 9mm or 45 if you are happy with commercial reloads at Wolf's prices.

And if you happen to shoot IPSC in the Eastern ON area good chance you can hook up with Wolf to get your ammo.

"You can reload 1000 .45 Auto rounds for around $50"
-aren't the primers alone $40 ???
-even 1/2 a pound of 231 winchester would cost $25

"Using cast bullets would reduce your reloading costs to below half of that factory ammo"
-I agree, but for me to duplicate what I get from Wolf's would cost alot more

Primers are $32-$34 for a Thousand.
Win231 is about $26 a pound.

Total costs for 1000 rounds of .45 Auto:

Federal #150 Primers: $28.99
Reused Brass: $0.00
Cast Bullets: $0.00
Powder:
(5.0 grains of Bullseye x 1000 rounds) = 5000 grains
1 pound = 7000 grains = $24.99
(5000 grains / 7000 grains) = 0.714
(0.714 x $24.99) = $17.85
-------------------------------------------------------------------
SUB TOTAL: $46.84
TAX: $5.62
-------------------------------------------------------------------
TOTAL = $52.46

Cost per 1000 Rounds = $52.46
Cost per round = ~$0.05
