Charge laid in forest shooting death

Nottawasaga OPP have charged a 60-year-old Keswick man in the shooting death Monday afternoon of 67-year-old Marianne Schmid.
Ms. Schmid was pronounced dead at the scene 500 metres inside a tract of Simcoe County forest west of Conc. 2 and north of 5th Sideroad in Adjala-Tosorontio.
The charge follows an autopsy yesterday which determined she died from a single gun shot wound to her abdomen.
Frederick Paul Thomas, 60, of Keswick is scheduled to make his first court appearance in a Bradford court Dec. 21.
