Pulled our cameras the other day. Most boxes have hatched out but there are still a few hens sitting on eggs...
Our low to water cameras caught some great images this time!

Excellent photos. Our swallow boxes are full again and a couple of neighbours have joined in. Quite a fleet of swallows on bug duty at all times along our stretch of waterfront. Once the little ones start to fly it gets pretty wild out there. I changed locations for one box as last year's high water got pretty close. Put it up on a post quite high out on the dock and the birds were in it before I finished walking off the dock. That was pretty neat. Been researching bat boxes and that is the next move. Real simple and real effective.

This is really awesome. Do we have any how to’s I can look at to build and setup some? I’d love to setup some swallow and duck boxes at my waterfront. Anything special about where to place them?

Certainly appreciate that, been researching them online and look pretty straight forward to build. Location would probably be an area that some advice would be appreciated.

We have bat boxes at our Gunclub. I can set you up with an expert who set ours up if you like.

The swallow boxes were supposed to be no closer than 20 feet apart. The neighbour has them side by side and they are occupied so not sure about that. Food source and predator proof.

How far apart do you find effective for the duck boxes and how far from water? I’m going to start the kids on this. It’ll be a great conservation project for them. And hopefully more wood ducks for me to bring in future seasons.

Very neat photos of the Pitt Lake area, and a very worthwhile effort.

I'd be interested in getting some bird boxes set up in our yard, get more than the robins about...
