How is a wood stock compared to a composite stock, lighter or heavier? Or does it depend?

A company that makes this rifle also makes a version that is the lightest stock on the market but if you mention it's name the rumor is your account will get banned.I'm curious if anyone has built a rifle with weight savings in mind. Something like a wood stock with rubber butt plate and tools removed? Does it make the rifle to barrel heavy? Removing the butt plate and tools would give you a good idea of what the balance would be I guess. I'm swapping out teh metal butt plate as I find it uncomfortable to shoot with. I'm hoping the rubber is better, if not maybe no butt plate and a limb saver butt pad.

Is it possible to fit a rubber butt pad to the USGI and delete all the metal in the butt of the stock?
