Woodcock report

In the last couple of weeks, every time I walk through thicker brush on our farm, I flush a woodcock. Seems like a very good year for them around here!

The leaves have not dropped yet, but it won't be long ......

I love woodcock hunting so much I bought a short barreled 20ga just for them! Have a great time and be sure to post some pics when you finally get out.

I'm waiting for it to get little cooler - sweating and mosquitoes shouldn't be part of the experience.

I have an old Fox model B in 20 gauge, that a previous owner had opened up to IC and M. It was my first shotgun, and I haven't had it in the field for years - I look forward to getting her out again.

Many a grouse fell to my little 20 .......

I really enjoy chasing woodcock and grouse behind my two pointers. I carry a 28 gauge that I find absolutely ideal for these birds and the terrain they inhabit and the fact that I have to keep up with the two dogs.
