So there are posts on FB and on 24hourcampfire, that the Woodleigh factory has burned to the ground :(

No links to post to news stories yet, but it seems to be true.

Damn, I have some stuff on next years order from a Canadian supplier

Great bullets and selection of heavy for cal weights

Yes to Post #3 - I have only done two purchases of Woodleigh bullets - from the vendor, as if it is only a once or twice a year thing to get an order to Canada - so likely a while before that event has any effect here.

^ if they weren’t in stock in Canada I would guess they are a puddle now

Scuttlebutt says they will not be retooling. Honestly a bit upset about this; they were always good to answer an email and their heavy for cal bullets performed well in non magnum rounds.

If I had the cash I’d be on the phone with the Canadian supplier getting what I could

I like their bullets, i have their reloading manual. One of the calibers i am loading for wasn't in the manual, so i sent an email. In only a short time i recieved an email back from the owner saying sorry the caliber i have missed getting in the book, and provided all the reloading data for my caliber. That is top notch support. I wish them well with whatever they choose to do

It was a fire at ADI that is the cause of the Varget shortage and some other powders too. What's with all these Australian fires?

That's a terrible shame. Hopefully everyone is OK and they have some good insurance. Selfishly I am really bummed out that I may never get my supply of 348 bullets. They were one of the last, actually I think the last, to not drop the caliber. It would be great if they rebuild.

Australian fires seemed to have gripped popular imagination more than reality. I just went through several years of press releases by Australian Munitions, who operate the Mulwala plant where Varget is made. There is no mention of any recent fire. There was apparently a fire in 2013 in the flake powder building, that set back production of pistol and shotgun powders by a few weeeks. It did not affect rifle powders, and anyway I think they are recovered from that by now.

They do have press releases celebrating 2020 as their most successful year ever in terms of export sales. It sounds to me like any shortages of Varget are once again due to shooters hoarding on the demand side, not any problems on the supply side.
