Would anyone have any plans for a workbench for reloading/gun cleaning etc? What sort of containers doodads etc should be included? Would 30 feet long be enough? Should it include a vice? What sort?

For a workbench, decide if you are going to be standing at it or sitting and what type of work you are going to be doing.

For reloading my bench top is set higher, about 38" so it is very comfortable standing at a press or doing other things on the bench without bending over it all the time.

General shop work or woodwork the bench can be at a height of around 32 to 34".

I also have an overhang over the front of the reloading bench for mounting presses, it also allows for me to sit on a tall chair (drafting stool) and reload, play, whatever. There is also enough room for my legs under the top of the bench and the lower shelf as a footrest. (The lower shelf is also in a bit)

If you don't build it in place, make sure you can get it into the room you want.

Here's what I used to build mine.

I added a peg board to the back of mine.

I built one of those for my gun cleaning bench and it is great. I have 5 or 6 flats of 12ga on the bottom self and it is holding up fine and with the extra weight the bench barely wiggles.

For reloading I use a steel L shaped office desk. This way I can spread my stuff out and sit down while working the press.

I made my loading bench using three Cdn Tire steel machine stands for the base, bought on sale. These are screwed to three 8 ft. long 2x6s which run lengthwise. Leftover 2x4 and 2x6 cut offs screwed to the 2x6s, running crosswise. These are then covered with a screwed down piece of OSB, topped with leftover roll flooring. So the top is something over 3" thick, rigid, smooth, wipes clean. Shelves in the lower level of the stands. Heavy, solid, all salvaged material except for the CT stands.
