Working up load, 30-350 rem mag wildcat

Hey guys

I finally got some brass necked down for my wildcat project. 30-350 remington magnum

Now I just need to start load development. I seem to recall reading that I could possibly start with 30-06 load data because the case capacity is similar. But I can't find that reference anymore.

I would like to use imr 4320, but the hornady manual doesnt list imr 4320 for 30-06 anyways.

Can I use the load data from 350 remington magnum? Using data from a heavier bullet for a lighter one?

I'd check water weight capacity and compare it to similar capacity .30 cal cartridge see which one is the closest and go from there. .30-06?, .300 RCM?, .300 SAUM,? .300 WSM?

If your brass holds around 73grs h2O like google suggests a 350RM does, then you'll be fine to use 30-06 data and can likely exceed a bit

what bullet weight are you gonna start with ? if a 180 gr with 4320 i would start at 60 grs and work up MYSELF ! jmo

pick a bullet weight first. Cartridge looks like a RCM

I loaded for one of these a while back, basically 30-06 AI data. Start low and work up. - dan

Quickload shows a default gross case capacity of 72.0 grs. of H2O for the .30-350 Rem. Mag., while their default case capacity for the .30-06 is 68.2 grs. H2O. This works out to 5.3% LESS capacity for the .30-06.

HOWEVER, only your brass, in your chamber, counts for anything! After all, it is your noggin behind the bolt!

btw, do NOT try to extrapolate data from a larger bore cartridge, even if it has a similar capacity, to a smaller bore cartridge of the same capacity. Unless you know what you are doing, that's like comparing tomatoes to peppers; they're both fruit, & both belong on pizza, but that's about it!

If Quickload says 72.0 gr H2O for the .30-350. Google says the .300 RCM has approximately 72.7 gr H2O.
