ONLY 27 shooters and mostly from Ontario & Quebec are representing Canada at the World FITASC! WTF are the the rest of the country??? Where are the shooters of Alberta? Or the rest of Canada? NO teams!! We have a chance to place in senior and vet! Where is CNSCA?

For us new shooters that are just getting into the sport, would you mind explaining what these events are and how an Alberta shooter like me can get involved? My prefered disipline is bunker.

I am not sure where you think the team sponsorship money comes from Henry. I didn't know it was Alberta's turn to carry you. If you have some kind words of encouragement, I would love to hear them. You could include them in the letter you promised me.
The CNSCA was created to be an association of shooters. I don't count on my fellow shooters paying my way, and at this time, I don't think it would be a realistic expectation that any level of gov't would be shoveling money our way.
The best we can do is get more shooters out to clubs other than their "home club" and shoot targets so well, and brag up our local clubs to concentrate on bringing shooters here.
Our provincial shoot is in a couple of weeks in Grande Prairie, AB. You could compete for high out of province. The hospitality can't be beat at the Wapiti club.

I never expect anyone to pay for others to shoot. But for such a large country with so many shooters, one would expect a better turnout. Look at the number of entries from Australia or New Zealand. You don't have to shoot like the best in the world to travel and shoot at these events. You could even get sqadded with the likes of George Digweed or Anthony Mataresse.

Datatools, you have to be member of CNSCA. The World FITASC Sporting is la crème de la crème of sporting. 25 targets per Parcour and in New Style normaly 3 to 4 pegs of either 3 or more singles and at least one pair. 8 Parcours make a major championship.

My guess is the rest of Canada is doing things like hockey, skating, swimming, football, track, archery, canoeing, biking and so on Henry. These are the things that find some government support through grants and support from society at large. In other words, we don't have farm teams or minor leagues in shooting, nor is there support from government grants. This has a big effect on what people do and most people have to make choices about what they can afford to have their kids play at. So, we lose the competition for participants hands down. In other words, there is little interest and no one is coming up...other guys here have said what this means and I don't have to repeat it. I don't think you should be surprised that people don't turn out when there is no support for it. There will always be some people that have the money and inclination to shoot at these events in far distant lands and that's OK by me. In fact, more power to them, I say. But it won't ever get beyond that with the belief that people should do it without support and by paying their own way operating. So, I believe you're going to have to make your peace with it. No sense railing about it...

I would love to be there, but I can't find the money to make it to all the Alberta shoots I would like too, much less those sort of travel expenses.

World Fitasc

Going to the World cost a pretty penny, not anybody can afford it. I prefer to shoot in the States, cheaper and closer and tons of competition, great shooters to compete against.

Henry,
IIRC there was a FITASC event at the Canadian in Alberta a few years ago. At that time Canadiangunnutz most vocal FITASC globe trotting scribe did not bother to schedule it and chose to go to Europe instead.

From my limited experience with fitasc and bunker I think that both have much in common. Both demand the most from a shooter as most of the targets are faster and harder than regular trap and skeet targets. What is really the most difficult and both have in common is not having place to shoot bunker or fitasc on a regular basis. Shooting facilities for both are very few and very far between.

Nope, I had a health issue and lost my airfare and hotel! I was in Europe a month before!

I am driving to this World. It is a lot cheaper driving a diesel! It also is better for my health issues.

I am only shooting the FITASC Sporting as it is stresfull unoff. We will do some visiting.

Meanwhile, plans are to drive down from Paris to near Madrid for next years World.

Henry;)
