Worlds smallest deer species have been found in Mayanmar (Burma), the CNN new reports today, which includes a picture of the deer.

It weights 11 kilo and stands 60-80 centimeter tall.

Burma?? Usually a bunch that size killed the first day of the season in Nova Scotia.
LOL - yup, last year I shot my first deer in Nova Scotia (first deer ever for me - I'm a bird hunter). Let's just say she was tender... Still, she's have been a TROPHY in Burma! lol!

Notice how I stood waaaaaaay back to make her look so big!

Don't feel bad a buddy of mine shot one the first day of the season in 2001 that went in a 12 pack beer box when it was cut up (Flaps closed). Some of the best eating ever and provided many enjoyable hours of craping on him. They always look bigger the first day after 364 days of waiting for the season to open again.

You had to Photoshop off the spots, eh?

:D

Those little ones sure are a good meal, if not a lot of meals. BTDT

Went so far as to use a Sharpie marker and write "NO FAWNS!!!!" on the inside of my truck window, as a reminder.

It didn't work so much......

Cheers

LOL - yeah, I've taken a lot of good-natured ribbing about this deer, but as you say, there's no better meal! You just wish you could shoot TWO of them! lol! The great thing about the spots is that they give you something to shoot at!

I still say you shot a coyote and put a deer tag on it buddy, but whatever...... ;)

The deer in my yard could give Burma a run for its money. Apparently two runt deer walked to Vancouver Island during the last ice age and now we only have knee high deer!

2A this year in NS is wide open either ### without a special permit and a second bonus deer if you so wish. So you CAN shoot two if required. Problem...lots of old school hunters dustin off the rifles after a 10-12 year retirement all converging on an area with lots of popuation and little crown lands. Gonna rename it little Beirut for at least a week.

Thanks Eagle - I was aware of that, but like you, I am concerned about the "quality of the experience" out there, let alone stray bullets! I have a spot picked out in 2A, but my fear is that I'm not the only one to have scouted it... as you probably know, it's not exactly remote wilderness out that way! My plan is to leave it alone for the first week or more and keep an eye on the local hunting websites - usually a pretty good barometer of how things are at "ground zero" lol! A lot of this depends if I 'm lucky enough to get another doe tag. If I do, my plan is to wait a bit longer than I did last year for a bigger doe. It was not until I dropped that little yearling last year that I realized that my host was not kidding when he said that I could just take my pick - the property is ROTTEN with deer!

Jaydog - I'm glad that you're still enjoying the story of my little '08 deer. I suppose it's only fair for me to remind you that, at 81 lbs on the hoof, she was still more than 80 lbs heavier than the deer that you shot! lol! SHould be easy for you this year in your backyard - a handful of corn and a hammer should do the trick!

I spent my life hunting 2 and 2a so I know them well. I'm lucky to have a hunting buddy with a great preserve in 2a so it's an awesome back up and a short drive from my house. I prefer to unt the timber but I'm getting lazy as I age.

Nice Eagle - always good to have friends like that! If I end up down there you'll know me if you see me - I'll be the guy with the deer in the game bag in the back of his vest...

Cool, I'll be watchin for you. I'm the guy with 9 different guns, pop up blind, survival pack and every hunting gadget that Cabelas, Bass Pro Shop, LeBaron or Wholesale Spots ever sold.

You can pack out two by yourself, and have one for lunch and the other for a late night snack.
