World War One German 250mm Minenwerfer

Took a really random drive home today from picking up some ammo.

Drove through Tavistock, Ontario. Going past their legion I saw this. I decided to stop and check it out.

Sadly most of my cell pics didnt turn out. Too bright, But one is pretty good.
I think its awesome that they still proudly display it. Looks as if the ID tag was torn off it recently which is unfortunate.

The little town Legions are amazing as they still have items on display (like the Minenwerfer you encountered).

I doubt you will see the same thing in or around a big city like Toronto which is quite sad indeed as how can the public there appreciate the history if they do not see the weapons of war that were there making it ?

Is that Sherman a Firefly? The tank does not look like it has an American 76, nor a Brit 17pdr. Is that a French 75mm like Israel used? Or is it just the angle of the pic?

What about the co-ax gun? Is that a fifty? The barrel looks fake.

That Sherman came from Israel and has been updated. Fought in the battle of the Golan Heights. Allison diesel under the back deck . They just traded it off for a more WWll type version, an Easy 8 ? Yeah, that mg jacket is a fake .

Guess I lied, that's the new one.Drive past it almost every day. Came from an army base at Edmonton. Lot of Shermans built and they served a long time. Tough to find a pure original.
