Worth the wait for the mossy tactical .22 flat top?

I guess this is a double edged sword seeing as it's hard to find anyone who has the original mossys in stock. My local shop has the originals on order and they are supposed to be in before the flat tops (which he also has on order, but is unsure of the arrival date). Besides the flat top, are there any significant advantage to the new version? Besides the price that is.
 
I have one of the first ones that came without the 25rd mag.
I'm really impressed with it.
When the flat tops come out , I'm getting one of those as well...for the wife :D

I have a red dot with a cantilever mount I'd like to use. Can the handle come off on it's own? I really love the look of the flat top, but also don't want to wait who knows how long to get one.

I have been Trying to get one for 6 months, I cant imagine having to wait for the flat top!

Yes you can take the handle off....with a saw. It is all once piece with the rest of the rifle body. Like the old AR's before removable carry handles.

If I get time later this weekend I'll post a pic of my setup.
 
I bought one before I ever heard about the flat tops and am quite happy with is, although if I had the choice and they were both in stock i'd pick the flat one.

I've since ditched the huge ugly handle for a stubby.

I've toyed with the idea of cutting it off and screwing on a rail but my airsoft gunsmith skills are not what they should be lol.
 
I for one am going to wait for one, I got rid of my SR22's AR shell because it was just too heavy to be toting around the bush. Once I saw the new flattop version Mossy I was sold on it and hope to get one in the near future once available.

Does anyone know if the barrels can be swapped out for aftermarket? It would be nice to get something that would improve the accuracy a bit for small game hunting.

What Cheek riser is that. If ever want to add an optical sight to the carry handle I would need one. Is it universal or just for the ATS stock that comes with the rifle (mine is wearing a Norc butt stock since I bought the not adjustable version).

I got it from eBay, fits good on the factory stock. I'm sure it would work on the non-adjustable too.
