Any info I see states that steel frames should be used for a drop in cylinder converter ( .44 BP to .45 Long Colt mild ). I realize brass is much softer, but I would figure a light usage of maybe a couple dozen light .45 LC wouldn't hurt anything.
If a guy did use .45 LC in a brass frame, would blackpowder rounds lightly loaded be okay? After all, the converters are steel and recoil/force should be on par with a normal .44 blackpowder load.

The conversion cylinders cost about $350 can. and you want it for a couple of light loads. I feel you will stretch the brass frame , they are known to stretch with BP cap loads . Also there is the "what if factor" , what if you get a regular load mixed with your very light loads , OUCH. Buy a MARSTAR PIETTA 1873 in .45 colt , it will be much cheaper.
