I just finished watching Pirates of the Caribbean and now I have the itch for a flint lock pistol. Is it possible to get a functional reproduction with out having to sell a lung or kidney? Is there a market in Canada for such things?

I know very little about black powder shooting. Never had the opportunity to try anything of the sort. Any pages you BP shooters would like to recommend?

Papa,

With the currency exchange it may be worth it to contact middlesexvillagetrading in the U.S.

As a side note I contacted on of the Canadian companies listed and asked them if they would sell me a musket at the U.S. rate, at with conversion saved me $150CDN, instead of the Canadian rate. They politely told me to perform a one-man reach around, difficult but satisfying.

You certainly can buy or build one if you like, the law treats it like any other pistol though...

everyone of these companies are great to deal with, the two first ones are Canadian and you have to drill out the touch hole, when you do however you have to get it verified and registered etc... Anyway lots of fun to shoot!

Paperwork!

One of the people I shoot with at 1812 reenactments uses a custom made FL pistol. He had to get his restricted permit and paperwork that stipulates he is carrying to and from reenactment/events:mad:

Flintlock Pistol

I would strongly recommend Loyalist Arms. In fact, Loyalist Arms supplied a number of flintlock pistols, muskets, blunderbusses and swords to the makers of Pirates of the Caribbean. The quality is much beter than the guns found at Military Heritage - The Discriminating General . I own a number of pieces from Loyalist Arms and can attest to their quality.

I've seen pieces from both myself and frankly I don't find one to be far more superior than the other... I bought a 1728 from the General and a friend purchased a Bess carbine from Loyalist.. "to me" I didn't find the quality of one was any better than the other.. I would buy from either place myself.. I've bought from both as well, great service and helpful.. I recommend them both equally. Do you work at Loyalist KPC or are you the owner?
