This is my 1911 Kimber with custom grips, my question is.. would it be frowned upon at an IPSC match?

yes you need a scope , porting , hair trigger, and convert it to .38 stuper.

but really

someone giving you grief over a nice pistol like that because of your grip choice can suck a bag of d#cks.

Nothing against decorating your gun as long as you're not in Production Division
And a 1911 is in Standard Division as long as it fits in the box

It is a 1911 format which is single action not suitable for Production

and not on the Production list.......

So you cannot shoot it in Production.

Were you sleeping in class?

oops

Well I may have been a little confused, you know me.back to original question, am I going to get hasled over the grips?

Thank you

Thanks to all who responded.I'm a newb to IPSC and don't want to get into trouble the first time I use my 1911.

Official rules are not against it, the crowd you are to run into may have their personal opinions - that's allowed too, so far.....

It is funny though that "some" ipsc people disdain camo clothing.... makes me giggle.
It was more about the attitude that accompanied the clothing then the clothing itself. Since the bloodthirsty wannabes and armchair warriors got the message they would not fit in with the jovial, fun atmosphere and moved on to other shooting games - nobody seems to care as much - although 5.3.1 still exists if we need it.

The Grips are fine. You might get hassled by the number of people asking where to get them, though. ;)

When ?dpa one day (I hope) get as many members, as much exposure will change certain things for good of the sport.

Good shooting

I wish I was at some of those matches, instead I always end up at the ones where no one wants to help, and everyone just #####es and moans.

That's too bad, in the two and a half years I have been shooting *DPA and IPSC, I have only ever been at shoots where everyone is friendly, helpful and joking. That's across several provinces as well.
Met some very nice people.

Camo clothing is not encouraged within IDPA as well, in fact I have yet to see it at a match of any kind. Given the concept of the sport there is no reason to be wearing camo clothing anyway.

It is all about image to the public and we all have to be mindful of that fact. Our sports do not exist in a vacumn. IPSC Canada has it right when they frown on camo clothing.

As an aside it isn't about numbers and right now there is nothing to change. We haven't banned it formally because there hasn't been a need to do so. Guys who show up wearing camo usually get the hint the first time out.

Take Care

Bob
