Would tightening XCR barrel retaining bolt to 250 inch pounds improve accuracy?

I've been reading on the net that some people have torqued their retaining bolt to 250 inch pounds. The manual and Alex Robinson recommend 200. Do you think tightening it to 250 inch pounds would improve accuracy and its tendency to vertically string?

Pretty sure 250 is the right number, and the 200 previously stated was incorrect or simply adjusted later.

Trigger time and hand loading will improve accuracy, the extra 50 inch pounds will make no difference and if it does it won't be a measurable one with the xcr.

What kind of groups are you getting op? I'm around 2-2.5inches at 100 yards. I haven't tried to many ammo types yet but I will be starting to reload this summer then I will see what I can do

I'm just trying to understand the physics behind how the retaining bolt affects accuracy. Is the vertical stringing because the retaining bolt holds the barrel at a point? Or is it tension related?

Minutia. I just finished reading a magazine article about the AR10 as a police sniper rifle, just sub moa and for the most part, 1.5-2 moa over all. I'll take my 1,5 moa XCR-M that I can take everywhere in Kanukistan.

I haven't ally noticed a vertical stringing in my xcr. More of just a round blob shaped group no matter how hot the barrel gets.

Hopefully someone else chimes in wih more experience.

Vertical stringing is usually because of breathing or because the barrel is warming up.

Ya, no.
1) Which barrel were they using?
2) Which ammo?
3) Optics?

Fireball posted a ways back some results he got from his AR10 DND rifle. I've had similar results with mine. He used a bipod and bag for the back. He was using a Burris Fullfield II at 9x.

I gave him what was left of some RFB rounds I whipped up. RFB hated them. If that 4th shot of his didn't open up the group it would have been exceptionally impressive. First 3 and 5th were well sub .5 moa.

If you shoot just under Moa using 168 with these rifles then go to 175 or vice versa. Same with the Remington 5R milspec. Police generally only shoot what is issued. Often 168 federal gold, hornady TAP etc. It is the round best picked for the job, cost and overall results across a large spectrum of firearms. It is often not the best round for that particular rifle.

Accurized AR10 rifles can shoot sub .5 MOA. Just like the .5 moa guaranteed AR15 rifles. Les Bauer and Stag 6 come to mind.
