I personally would never attempt a 1000 yard shot at any big game animal,my own self imposed limit is 500 yards.However what other hunters choose to do is up to them.
Even tho more times than not in the woods deer pop up around the 100m mark or closer I think every hunter should be able to confidently know his ammo out to 700m at least anyway.
If you are never going to shoot anywhere near 700m,what possible benefit can it be to the hunter?
Maybe because after you shoot 700, 500 feels like a gimme.
