Would you buy a 5.45x39?

no, ammo is dirt cheap in the US, but not availible at all here. if there was a surplus ammo source, that would change everything.

I will shoot any centerfire caliber with dirt cheap ammo. But bringing in the ammo is a chicken-and-egg problem. Nobody wants to buy a gun they can't find ammo for, and nobody is going to import ammo for guns that don't exist.

Not to be a downer, but no! It's not just the ammo availability. I just don't want one. I don't even want a rifle in 5.56 let alone one smaller than that. I'm a plinker but i like my 7.62x39 and 22's. They do just fine and i have no desire what so ever for anything smaller. If you get one, i hope you have fun man. I don't want one though.

Yea you need to get ammo in, and somehow get a pre-existing not prohibited 5.45 in too
By that standard, I see......none
Unless you want Izemesh to make Semi Auto only AN-94 and hopefully RCMP wont ##### over it.

I don't think it would interest me. I like 7.62x39 and we are stuck with corrosive ammo for that as it is. 5.45 is too close to .223 and that is everywhere already.

right, I dont' think it could ever compete with .223 in canada.......Ammo is available over the counter just about anywhere......plus I can pick up scores of .223 brass for free at the range .
