Hey everyone, I am about to purchase an antique francotte revolver from the states. Unfortunatly it is not stamped with caliber or date, but unofficial sources place it as pre 1880 production. As of right now this is my only reference is:

The shipper will send it as official caliber .450 adams in customs, which is most likely what it is, which is not on the exempted caliber list. Do you guys figure this is a good idea? I wonder how I would prove to canadian officials if the situation ever arised, that it is an antique?

Thanks
Mark

Get the letter from the guy, print your source and send a request to CFC to rate the gun. If they send the letter that that gun is antique, you're good to go.

Thanks KTO, that is a long process and I am under auction, I guess I will have to let this one go.

Well, you're screwed right now. However, you can get this stuff done in few days, e.g. call CFC, fax the info, they take a look, investigate, fax the letter back to you. Right now it's long weekend, so if the price very low, you can risk it. Otherwise you will end up reselling it (you can agree with the seller on that).
